Dangote Refinery Takes a Giant Leap with 4,000 CNG Trucks

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has commenced receiving 4,000 compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered trucks for its fuel distribution program, set to launch on August 15. This initiative aims to revolutionize Nigeria’s fuel distribution system by reducing logistics costs and improving supply efficiency.

The fleet represents a significant capital investment estimated at ₦720 billion, showcasing Dangote’s commitment to innovative solutions.
The CNG trucks will ensure operational efficiency while scaling up the fleet, according to Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief of Branding and Communication.
This initiative is projected to save Nigerians over ₦1.7 trillion annually in fuel distribution costs and benefit over 42 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by lowering energy costs and improving profitability .

The program is expected to create over 15,000 direct jobs across the logistics value chain.
The initiative will help revitalize dormant filling stations, promoting economic growth and development.
The use of CNG-powered trucks will support a more efficient and environmentally friendly distribution system .

With the launch of the fuel distribution program, Dangote Refinery is poised to transform Nigeria’s energy sector. The company aims to meet Nigeria’s daily consumption of 65 million liters of refined petroleum products, including 45 million liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 15 million liters of diesel, and 5 million liters of aviation fuel .
