Boosting Transparency in Nigeria’s Education Sector: A New Era of Communication

The Federal Ministry of Education has launched a groundbreaking 2025-2027 Communication Strategy and Framework, aimed at enhancing policy engagement, transparency, and public trust in Nigeria’s education sector. Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, emphasized that effective communication is crucial to achieving the education goals of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Minister highlighted several notable achievements, including .
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET):Over 960,000 applications processed on the new digital platform, with 58,000 students matched to training centers. Federal and selected state technical colleges will offer free tuition, boarding, and stipends from the 2025/2026 academic session.
Construction of nearly 4,900 new classrooms, renovation of 3,000 classrooms, and supply of over 353,000 pieces of furniture benefiting approximately 2.3 million learners.
Identification of nearly one million out-of-school children, reintegration of 35,000 learners, and plans to rollout bilingual smart schools in 33 states.

Awareness and Engagement
Dr. Alausa stressed that public awareness and engagement are critical to the success of education reforms. “Policies and programmes alone cannot succeed unless they enjoy the understanding, trust, and active support of stakeholders and the Nigerian public.” This new communication strategy aims to bridge the gap between policymakers and the public, ensuring that education reforms are widely understood, discussed, and embraced by Nigerians .
