APC National Secretary Tells FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to Resign
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has called on Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike to resign from his ministerial position. Basiru’s request is in response to Wike’s recent comments on APC affairs, which Basiru believes are unwarranted and an attempt to destabilize the party .
In a statement released on Monday, Basiru emphasized that Wike is not a member of the APC and therefore lacks the authority to dabble in the party’s affairs. “From my record, he (Wike) isn’t a member of APC. I don’t see which authority or temerity he has to be dabbling in APC affairs,” Basiru stated .
Basiru also rejected Wike’s claim that he is motivated by the N600 billion in the coffers of Rivers State government, describing it as “cheap blackmail.” “My records of service are those of integrity and commitment to service. I am not an opportunist, and I have never shied away from taking principled positions on any matter, no matter whose ox is gored,” Basiru said .
Basiru advised Wike to resign as Minister and focus on his “obsession with Rivers politics.” “Finally, my advice to him is that he should resign as Minister and face his obsession with Rivers politics,” Basiru stated .
