AI Regulation Urgently Needed, Says OpenAI CEO Sam Altman 🤖

The India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi has brought together over 500 AI leaders, 100 founders, and 20 heads of state to discuss the future of artificial intelligence. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has renewed his call for global oversight, warning that concentration of AI technology poses an “existential danger”.

Altman praised India’s potential, saying it’s one of OpenAI’s fastest-growing markets, with over 100 million people using ChatGPT weekly. He explored advertising options within ChatGPT to drive profitability, citing Instagram-style ads as a promising model.

Altman emphasized the need for regulation while focusing on growth. “We are growing at an extremely fast rate… we’ll get profitable when it makes sense,” he said. OpenAI is finalizing a $100 billion fundraising round, with plans to test advertising in the US first.
