African Democratic Congress (ADC) Surges in Rivers State with 800,000 Members

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State is experiencing rapid growth, boasting over 800,000 members and counting. According to Luckyman Egila, the party’s state publicity secretary, the ADC has become a magnet for prominent politicians, including two former governors and two senators, who have officially joined the party .

Rotimi Amaechi:Former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ADC.
Celestine Omehia: Former Governor of Rivers State, who has also joined the ADC.
Prince Uche Secondus:Former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has defected to ADC.
Senator Lee Maeba,and ,Senator Andrew Uchendu: Both senators have joined the ADC, with Senator Uchendu serving as the Vice Chairman, South-South of the party.

The ADC’s growing strength in Rivers State can be attributed to its robust structures, which are present in every local government area and community. According to Egila, the party’s membership is growing daily, and they are confident of clinching key political offices in the state and Nigeria as a whole .

The ADC’s surge in Rivers State has significant implications for the state’s political landscape. With prominent politicians defecting to the party, the ADC is poised to become a major player in the state’s politics. As Egila noted, “We are a moving train because, politically, we don’t see anyone capable of stopping the ADC from clinching whatever ticket or office we want in Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole” .
