10,000 Nigerians to Get Emergency Response Training in New NovaDOC Health Initiative
Nigeria’s emergency healthcare system is getting a major boost. The Doctors On Call Health Support Initiative has launched a nationwide plan to train 10,000 Nigerians in emergency response, telehealth coordination, and healthcare support services.
The goal: cut down preventable deaths from road accidents, trauma, snakebites, and other medical emergencies.
Founder Dr. Adejobi Adeloye unveiled the “NovaDOC Integrated Emergency Response and Digital Health Ecosystem” in Abuja on Friday. The platform combines emergency medical kits, telehealth services, emergency alerts, and responder coordination into one system.
“For far too long, our nation has grappled with fragmented emergency response systems, delayed access to care, and preventable deaths. Today, we are unveiling a revolutionary all-in-one healthcare innovation that addresses these challenges directly and ensures that no Nigerian is left behind during emergencies,” Adeloye said.
The training program won’t just teach skills — it’s designed to create jobs in the healthcare support sector. Participants will learn practical emergency response techniques, while 1,000 certified facilitators will be trained to run the program nationwide through NovaDOC’s digital learning platform.
Nigeria loses thousands of lives yearly due to delayed emergency response. Poor ambulance systems, weak communication networks, and a shortage of first responders mean many victims die before reaching the hospital.
The Federal Road Safety Corps has repeatedly flagged delayed intervention as a leading cause of road crash fatalities. Snakebites, flooding, and insecurity-related injuries add to the crisis, especially in rural areas and along highways.
NovaDOC is targeting these gaps with specialized emergency kits for different environments. The “Car Kit” for example, is designed for private and commercial vehicles to provide immediate trauma support after road accidents.
Nigeria’s emergency care gap from two angles — training more first responders and building a digital ecosystem to coordinate faster help. If it scales, this could be a game-changer for highway safety and rural healthcare access.
