ADC’s Free Online Membership Registration Hit by Fake Sign-Ups
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a free online membership registration portal, but it’s been flooded with fake names, pictures, and National Identification Numbers (NINs) just 24 hours after its launch.
The party unveiled the digital portal as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections, instructing existing members to update and revalidate their details in line with the Electoral Act 2026 and INEC guidelines. However, netizens have exploited the system, registering fake names, including President Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi, and Donald Trump.
The fake registrations have raised concerns about the security of the online registration process, with some users calling it a “scam” and warning of potential rigging or manipulation of the party’s presidential primaries. The ADC has acknowledged the issue and warned Nigerians against fake online registration platforms, advising them to only use verified party channels for registration.
How do you think the ADC can improve the security of its online registration process? Will the party’s efforts to address the issue be enough to restore trust in the process?
