Cross River State Regain 76 Oil Wells After Federal Government Investigation

Cross River State is set to regain its status as an oil-producing state, with Governor Bassey Otu announcing the commencement of drilling in two oil blocs and the re-entry of abandoned cat-wells.

This development is expected to boost the state’s economy, which has been struggling since the loss of 76 oil wells to Akwa Ibom State in 2012. The state government has been working to diversify its economy, with a focus on agriculture, and has launched Project Grow, a N30 billion commercial agriculture development fund.

The recognition of Cross River as an oil-producing state is expected to increase the state’s revenue and create new economic opportunities. The state government has also been working to recover lost assets, including Tinapa Business Resort and Oban Plantation.
