Retired AIG Enene Okon Hosts Youth Leaders in Bakassi LGA: A New Year of Unity and Progress
In a bid to strengthen unity and collaboration among young people in Bakassi Local Government Area, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Enene Okon hosted a gathering of youth leaders on January 11, 2026. The event, which brought together grassroots youth representatives and community stakeholders, was aimed at celebrating the achievements of young people and highlighting their role in fostering peace, development, and civic participation .



During the event, AIG Enene Okon commended the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu, for his leadership and developmental initiatives that have positively impacted youths in Bakassi. He emphasized the importance of the Bakassi Deep Seaport project, describing it as a transgenerational fortune that requires unanimous support from the youth .
AIG Enene Okon urged the youth to register for their voters’ cards, stressing that this would enable them to exercise their right to choose their leaders. He specifically advised them to follow the 04 migration policy, regardless of the ward names reflected on the INEC server .
The President of the Etubom Mkparawa Forum in Bakassi LGA, Chief Adim Adim, lauded AIG Enene Okon for the honor accorded them. He described the retired police officer as a leader who has set a pace that others may find difficult to follow, and expressed the forum’s acceptance of him as their leader .
The event was marked by goodwill messages, gift presentations, and traditional performances. It was attended by prominent community leaders, including the Vice Chairman of Bakassi LGA, special assistants to the Governor, and village heads. As the youth of Bakassi LGA look forward to a new year of progress and development, AIG Enene Okon’s leadership and vision are expected to play a significant role in shaping their future .
