Super Eagles Captain Wilfred Ndidi Makes Bold Move: “I’ll Pay Bonuses If FG Fails”

In a shocking display of commitment and leadership, Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has promised to pay the team’s unpaid match bonuses if the Federal Government fails to do so before their crucial quarterfinal match against Algeria. The players have been owed bonuses for their group stage fixtures and the round of 16 match, and had reportedly threatened to boycott training and travel to Marrakech over the issue .

Ndidi’s promise comes after the Federal Government, through the Office of the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, promised to fast-track the payments between Thursday and Friday. “I’ve been pushing the team to train and play the game vs Algeria. I’ve been doing this since the second game. I’ve now made a commitment to the staff and players that I’ll personally pay the bonuses if the authorities fail to before Saturday,” Ndidi said .

The Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, has assured that the group stage funds have been released and have cleared the necessary regulatory stages. She also noted that subsequent payments would no longer be affected by such delays, thanks to the successful streamlining of foreign exchange processing by the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria .

Ndidi’s promise is a testament to his leadership and commitment to the team. If the government fails to pay the bonuses, Ndidi’s gesture will not only boost the team’s morale but also demonstrate his willingness to go the extra mile for his teammates. The Super Eagles will face Algeria in the quarterfinals on Saturday, and it remains to be seen whether the government will fulfill its promise to pay the bonuses .
