Wike Warns Politicians: Joining APC Doesn’t Guarantee Second Term

In a recent statement, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike cautioned politicians against believing that joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) or openly professing loyalty to President Bola Tinubu would automatically guarantee them a second-term ticket. Wike emphasized that politics is guided by clearly defined agreements and that promises made must be honored.

Wike stressed that loyalty without structure or commitment carries no guarantees, warning politicians against complacency and marginalization. He emphasized that political relevance is earned through strategic decisions and consistency, not by following political trends after victories have already been secured .

In a clear message to politicians, Wike stated that merely declaring support for President Tinubu, especially after the 2023 elections, should not be mistaken for an automatic pathway to re-election. He urged politicians to focus on building strong structures and making strategic decisions to ensure their political relevance .

Wike’s recent engagements in Ikwerre land have been seen as a deliberate move to consolidate his political base. His remarks have also sparked speculation about emerging political realignments and possible tensions ahead of the next electoral cycle in Rivers State .
