Power Supply to Return in 48 Hours: Minister Adelabu Assures Nigerians
Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured citizens that electricity supply will be restored within 24 to 48 hours. The assurance comes after a recent dip in power availability triggered by a temporary shortfall in generation .
The drop in power supply was caused by an explosion on the Escravos-Lagos Gas Pipeline, compounded by acts of vandalism on critical gas infrastructure. This disrupted gas supply to several thermal power plants across the country, resulting in a significant reduction in electricity generation nationwide .
The Minister assured that efforts are already underway to stabilize the grid and return supply to normal levels nationwide. The National Independent System Operator (NISO) is closely monitoring ongoing repair works being carried out by the Nigerian Gas Processing and Transportation Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited .
Adelabu’s assurance provides a glimmer of hope for Nigerians who have been experiencing power outages in recent days. The restoration of power supply is expected to bring relief to households, businesses, and industries across the country.
