Empowering Nigerian Youths: A Key Priority for the Tinubu Administration

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to investing in the future of young people, communities, and the nation at large. This commitment was reaffirmed during the launch of a three-day end-of-the-year basketball competition for youths, tagged “Tech meets Basketball,” organized by the Bosun Tijani Foundation .

The minister highlighted that the initiative aims to create a joyful and inclusive space where young people can come together, express themselves freely, build confidence, and form lasting connections through shared experiences, teamwork, and healthy competition. This aligns with the administration’s vision of building a society where opportunities for growth, belonging, and self-discovery are accessible to young people regardless of their background .

Dr. Tijani emphasized that the Federal Government remains committed to efforts and strategic innovations that would open doors of opportunities to empower the youth and give them the wings to aid the nation’s growth and development. This commitment is evident in the government’s various initiatives aimed at promoting youth development, education, job creation, and innovation .

Some of the initiatives launched by the government to support youth development include:Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA): A platform designed to provide young Nigerians with digital skills, entrepreneurship support, and new opportunities in the growing digital economy.

NiYA GIGS: A national digital-work platform intended to link young Nigerians to paid opportunities locally and globally.
Three Million Technical Talent Initiative: A program aimed at training young Nigerians in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and software engineering.
Student Loan Scheme:A scheme designed to provide financial support to students pursuing higher education
