Akwa Ibom Gov Charges NYSC Members to Contribute to Host Communities’ Growth
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has urged newly deployed members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to leave a lasting and positive impact on the communities and organizations where they will serve over the next one year. The governor emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and respect for cultural norms and traditions .
Represented by the Director in the Ministry of Youth Development, Emmanuel Akpabio, Governor Eno charged the corps members to build on the achievements of their predecessors and add value to their host communities. He assured them of the state’s peaceful environment and encouraged them to integrate fully into their communities .
The governor also cautioned the corps members against embarking on night journeys, noting that past tragedies involving NYSC members were linked to late-night travel. This reminder is aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of the corps members during their service year .
The NYSC State Coordinator, Sam Pepple, said over 700 corps members who completed the orientation exercise had acquired the discipline, teamwork, and resilience needed for national service. The NYSC remains dedicated to promoting national unity, community development, and leadership growth among Nigerian graduates through well-structured programs and service-oriented initiatives .
