Nigeria was like a barren woman looking for a child before President Bola Tinubu came – Uzodinma
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying they are beginning to yield positive results despite the current hardship faced by many Nigerians. Speaking at the All Progressives Congress South-West stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos, Uzodinma compared Nigeria’s pre-Tinubu economic condition to that of “a barren woman” in need of revival .
Uzodinma credited Tinubu’s administration with introducing the necessary policy measures to restore economic productivity and set the country on a path of sustainable growth. He acknowledged that the reforms have come with pains but emphasized that the results are beginning to show. “Nigeria was like a barren woman looking for a child before President Bola Tinubu came. He introduced the fertility drugs needed. Yes, they came with pains, but we are seeing results,” Uzodinma said .
The governor commended Nigerians for their resilience in the face of economic difficulties arising from recent policy shifts by the federal government. “We thank you for your resilience in admitting the difficulties from the reforms. A more united and prosperous Nigeria is what we need,” he said. Uzodinma also expressed confidence that Nigeria would ultimately defeat insurgents and bandits, questioning the sources of funding for criminal groups and stressing that the fight against insecurity requires unity and strong political will .
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors, led by Uzodinma, aim to establish at least 1,000 active businesses in every ward, leveraging the significant fiscal boost states are now receiving. With the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursements tripling to states, Uzodinma believes that Nigeria is on the path to economic recovery and growth .
