Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has commended Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for his efforts to provide 24-hour electricity in the state, citing it as a crucial step towards driving economic growth. Johnson made this remark at the Imo State Economic Summit in Owerri, where he emphasized the importance of clean and sustainable power for the state’s economic transformation

Johnson highlighted the critical role artificial intelligence (AI) will play in helping the governor realize his plan, describing AI as “the future.” He noted that with clean, sustainable electricity and AI, the possibilities are endless

Johnson also praised the strong historic and cultural ties between Nigeria and the UK, citing the exchange of skilled professionals between the two countries. He expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s contributions to the UK, including oil and gas, Nollywood movies, and brilliant professionals in various fields .

The summit, themed “Unlocking Imo’s Economic Potential: Partnership, Investment, and Innovation,” brought together global leaders, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and businessman Aliko Dangote. The summit aims to attract investments and promote partnerships in various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and technology.
