EU Launches €30M Initiative to Empower Nigerian Artists and Creative Sector

The European Union has unveiled a €30 million initiative to empower Nigerian artists, cultural organizations, and creative professionals through the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture (AEPC) Nigeria Cluster. The project, implemented by the Goethe-Institut, aims to promote international collaboration opportunities between Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe, advancing mutual exchange and co-creation

The EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, emphasized that culture is a driver of mutual understanding, creative innovation, and economic opportunity. He stated, “We see culture as a driver of mutual understanding, creative innovation, and economic opportunity.” The initiative is part of the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, aimed at connecting people and creating opportunities for sustainable shared prosperity

The AEPC Nigeria Cluster will provide opportunities for Nigerian artists and creative professionals to collaborate with their European counterparts, promoting cultural exchange and innovation. The initiative will also support the development of Nigeria’s creative sector, which is diverse, innovative, and increasingly recognized on the global stage

The initiative will provide Nigerian artists and creative professionals with access to new opportunities for collaboration, training, and global exposure. It will also promote cultural diversity and amplify African voices, creating spaces where voices can be heard and creative talents can grow without limits

The EU’s €30 million initiative is a significant boost to Nigeria’s creative sector, providing opportunities for artists and creative professionals to collaborate, innovate, and thrive. We look forward to seeing the impact of this initiative on Nigeria’s cultural landscape.
