EU, France, and Nigeria Partner to Boost Local Medicine Production

The European Union, France, and Nigeria have signed a €10.2 million partnership agreement to enhance Nigeria’s pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity and strengthen local health systems. This initiative is part of the Global Gateway’s Manufacturing and Access to Vaccines, Medicines, and Health Technologies Initiative.

Project Objectives

– Improve Pharmaceutical Manufacturing:Expand local production of quality-assured medicines.
– Enhance Access to Health Technologies: Improve access to essential health technologies.
– Promote Research-Based Innovation: Foster innovation and research in the pharmaceutical sector.

Strengthening Regional Collaboration

The project will reinforce the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development as a regional reference center. It will also promote collaboration with countries like Rwanda and Senegal.
