A 17-year-old boy, Auwalu Muhammad, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly removing his 7-year-old sister’s eyes in a suspected money ritual. The incident occurred on October 17, 2025, in Wailo town, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
According to the police, Muhammad lured his sister, Rukayya, into a nearby bush, where he brutally attacked her and plucked out her eyes. The victim was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where an ophthalmologist confirmed that she would never regain her vision.
The police spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, stated that five other suspects were arrested in connection with the crime. The suspects have confessed to the crime, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover the motive behind the heinous act.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and professional investigation .
