Abia Police Crack Down on Child Trafficking Ring, Rescue 18 Children

The Abia State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against child trafficking, rescuing 18 children and arresting 10 suspected members of a child trafficking syndicate. The operation, which was carried out in Aba and its environs, was prompted by a complaint from a young woman who was lured to Aba by a man promising marriage, only to have her two children abducted.

Acting on credible intelligence, the police stormed a residence where stolen children were kept and arrested five suspects, rescuing eight children. Further investigation led to the arrest of five more suspects and the rescue of seven infants and four children.

The suspects, who have been identified as members of a child trafficking syndicate, include:

– Charles Enyinnaya, 25
– Eunice Ezekiel, 35
– Nnena Kalu, 60
– Gideon Esther, 25
– Obiegbunam Von, 65
– Ezeoma Rejoice, 21
– Ngozi Owoh, 20
– Favour Ernest, 22
– Brittney Oyemuwa Zion, 22

The police are currently investigating the matter at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, has assured the public that the command remains committed to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

The police have urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station. The public is also advised to visit the Gender Section of the SCID, Abia State Command, or contact the OC Gender via 08033173846 if they have any information about missing or stolen children.
