Sowore Meets with Former President Jonathan Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention
Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, recently met with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja to discuss the detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Sowore revealed that Jonathan agrees on the need for a decisive and just resolution to Kanu’s case, emphasizing the importance of addressing this matter for peace, fairness, and national healing.
This meeting comes as part of a growing wave of demands for Kanu’s unconditional release. Sowore plans to lead a protest at Aso Rock on October 20 to push for Kanu’s freedom. Notably, other prominent figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Femi Falana SAN, and Senator Shehu Sani, have also voiced their support for Kanu’s release.
Nnamdi Kanu has been in detention since 2021, sparking debates about marginalization and human rights in Nigeria. His supporters argue that his detention is politically motivated, while others see it as a matter of national security.
