The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary. Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this in a statement, congratulating Nigerians at home and abroad on this milestone .

A public lecture is scheduled for Monday, September 29.
The week will culminate with a Presidential Broadcast and Independence Day Parade activities on October .

However, in a surprising move, the Federal Government has canceled the Independence Day parade, citing alternative arrangements. Other commemorative events will proceed as planned, with the government expressing regret over any inconvenience caused .
