Empowering South-South Youths in Agriculture: A New Era of Opportunities

The Federal Government’s initiative to provide funding support to South-South youths in agriculture is a strategic move to boost agribusiness projects in the region. This program aims to enhance food security, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth.

The Nigerian Agribusiness and Agro-Industry Development Initiative (NAADI) will provide funding support to youths in the South-South region to boost their access to agribusiness opportunities.
NAADI will partner with relevant institutions to provide training for executives of the South-South Youth in Agriculture, covering areas such as cooperative management, financial accountability, and template development.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has introduced the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme, which provides loans of up to N1 million to farmers, with a 75% guarantee in case of default.

With proper structures and governance frameworks in place, youths in agriculture will have easier access to funding from government agencies, development partners, and international organisations.
The initiative will enhance the capacity of young farmers, enabling them to manage their farms more efficiently and increase productivity.
The agricultural sector has the potential to create millions of jobs for Nigerian youths, contributing to economic growth and development.The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to promote economic development, create jobs, and ensure food security.

The government is committed to supporting young farmers, providing them with the necessary resources and tools to succeed in agriculture .
