Nigeria’s Economy to Bounce Back Soon: Chinese Ambassador

The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s market potential and pledged to be a “reliable partner” in its future growth. During a visit to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, Ambassador Yu emphasized China’s strong commitment to supporting Nigeria’s aviation growth, describing the country as a critical hub on the continent.

Ambassador Yu expressed confidence in Nigeria’s market potential, stating, “Nigeria has the market, and I see the potential. The economy is going to bounce back soon, and China is ready to be a reliable partner in this growth trajectory.”
The visit focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and opening new opportunities for Nigeria’s aviation sector, with discussions on aircraft leasing, technical support, and long-term collaboration with Nigerian airlines.
Minister Keyamo welcomed the talks, stressing Nigeria’s readiness for a strategic partnership with China’s Commercial Aircraft Corporation (COMAC) .

Minister Keyamo announced plans to lead a delegation of domestic airline executives to COMAC’s headquarters to deepen discussions on aircraft leasing and technical support.Nigeria is open to allowing COMAC to use the country as a base to access the wider African market, positioning the country as a regional hub for aircraft services.
The partnership aims to modernize Nigeria’s aviation industry, reduce capital flight, and enhance the country’s competitiveness .

Minister Keyamo disclosed plans for a groundbreaking ceremony for Air Peace’s maintenance hangar at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The first dry lease agreement is expected to arrive in Nigeria after the country was removed from the blacklist globally, following the implementation of the Cape Town Convention .
