NECO Introduces Computer-Based Testing for November 2025 Exams

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that it will be transitioning from the traditional paper-pencil method to a computer-based testing (CBT) system for its Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, starting from the November/December 2025 session.

To ensure a smooth rollout, NECO has invited interested Computer-Based Centre Operators to apply for registration, subject to strict technical, infrastructural, and security requirements. The guidelines include:

– A minimum of 150 functional computer systems/laptops with 10% backups
– Robust servers
– Cubicles of specific dimensions
– Air-conditioned halls
– CCTV surveillance with IP cameras
– Reliable internet signals from MTN or Airtel

NECO has emphasized that make-shift CBT centers are not allowed, and all centers must be dedicated CBT centers that are used and maintained as such all year round.

With the introduction of CBT, NECO aims to enhance the examination process and improve the overall experience for candidates. As the November/December 2025 session approaches, candidates and center operators must familiarize themselves with the new system and requirements.

What do you think about this development? Are you excited about the introduction of CBT for NECO exams
