Cross River State’s Forum of Vice Chairmen Endorse Governor Otu and Deputy for Second Term

In a show of unity and grassroots support, the Forum of Vice Chairmen from the 18 Local Government Areas of Cross River State has officially endorsed Governor Bassey Edet Otu and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Peter Odey, for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections. The endorsement ceremony, held in Ogoja, was a significant display of support for the Otu-Odey administration.

The Chairman of the Forum and Vice Chairman of Bakassi LGA, Hon. Princess Christiana Eso, lauded Governor Otu’s performance over the past two years, describing his administration as transformational, people-centered, and inclusive. She highlighted key achievements, including:

– Construction and rehabilitation of over 73 kilometers of roads across the state
– Revitalization of healthcare infrastructure and recruitment of over 200 medical personnel
– Distribution of 625,000 oil palm seedlings to boost agriculture
– Free WAEC registration for over 31,000 students in public schools
– ₦1.2 billion in grants and loans to women and youth entrepreneurs
– Revival of Carnival Calabar, drawing over 300,000 visitors and generating ₦14 billion in tourism revenue

The Forum of Vice Chairmen commended Governor Otu for assigning critical constitutional responsibilities to Vice Chairmen through an amended Local Government Law, empowering them to function effectively and deliver meaningful service to their people. They also praised the Deputy Governor for his administrative synergy, humility, and unwavering support in advancing the Governor’s “People First” agenda.

The motion for endorsement was moved by Rt. Hon. Ekuma Ngwu JP, Vice Chairman of Biase LGA, and seconded by Hon. Joseph Ukpata, Vice Chairman of Abi LGA and Vice Chairman of the Forum. The Forum unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the Otu-Odey administration and adopted the Governor and his Deputy as their sole candidates for the 2027 elections.

The endorsement ceremony concluded with renewed pledges of loyalty, prayers for continued peace, and a shared resolve to deliver victory for the Otu/Odey ticket in 2027. The Forum of Vice Chairmen’s unanimous endorsement is a testament to the Otu-Odey administration’s commitment to grassroots development and empowerment.
