Cross River Governor Takes Delivery of Two New Aircraft

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has taken delivery of two new Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft to tackle flight delays and cancellations in the state. The regional aircraft, each capable of carrying up to 100 passengers, are part of the administration’s efforts to enhance economic mobility and solidify the state’s position as a leading tourism and investment destination in Nigeria.

The governor described the acquisition as “a long-overdue leap into the future of seamless connectivity and economic transformation for our dear state.” He emphasized that the aircraft will help eliminate persistent challenges faced by travelers to and from Calabar, including frequent flight delays and cancellations.

The aircraft are scheduled to be officially commissioned by the Ministry of Aviation on August 12, 2025. The governor expressed his excitement about the new development, which he believes will boost the state’s economy and improve the lives of its citizens.

The acquisition of the two new aircraft is a significant step towards improving air travel in Cross River State. With the aircraft’s capacity to carry up to 100 passengers each, the state is poised to experience a boost in tourism and investment, ultimately driving economic growth and development.
