Wike Dismisses Claims of Allocating Multi-Billion Dollar Land to His Son

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has firmly denied recent online allegations suggesting he handed over 2,000 hectares of valuable Abuja land—reportedly worth \$3.6 billion—to his son.

The story, which circulated widely on social media platforms and certain online news outlets, sparked a flurry of public reactions and fueled concerns about nepotism and misuse of public office. However, Wike swiftly responded, labeling the claims as entirely false and politically motivated.

He described the accusations as a smear campaign aimed at distracting him from his responsibilities and tarnishing his reputation. “There is no truth to these reports,” Wike stated. “I challenge anyone to provide credible evidence. This is just another attempt to play politics with falsehood.”

As the head of the FCT administration, Wike emphasized his commitment to transparency and due process in all land-related matters. He reassured the public that his tenure would not be tainted by favoritism or personal enrichment.

This incident highlights the growing trend of misinformation in Nigeria’s digital space, where unverified stories often go viral before facts are checked. The minister called on the media and the public to focus on verified information and not fall prey to politically charged narratives.
