2027: Politicians in ADC need to slow down – Lamido
Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has advised presidential hopefuls in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to slow down their campaigns and adopt a more strategic approach to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time program, Lamido cautioned against premature campaigning, likening the current situation to a 100-meter dash, where the aspirants need to pace themselves to avoid early burnout.
Pace Themselves Strategically: Lamido urged ADC presidential hopefuls to focus on building a strong foundation and connecting with people quietly, rather than rushing into actions.
Avoid Premature Campaigning:He emphasized the need for aspirants to look inward, be more circumspect, and avoid excessive haste in their pursuit of the presidency.
The former governor encouraged the ADC to develop a thoughtful strategy to challenge the APC effectively, rather than relying on impulsive decisions.
The ADC has attracted several high-profile politicians, including former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who declared his ambition for the 2027 presidential election shortly after the party’s launch. While former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has not officially announced his interest, there are speculations that he might be preparing for the 2027 .
Despite attending the ADC’s launch in July, Lamido clarified that he remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that he cannot leave a big party for a small one. However, he offered his advice to ADC presidential hopefuls, emphasizing the need for a more measured approach to achieve their goals
